Collected a desktop PC today which was completely dead. Diagnostics revealed the power supply had failed. Due to the unusual custom built artic cooler case all components were transfered to an alternative case, with a standard new power supply unit. Added to this the desktop also had a problem of freezing in programs (prior to the power problem). Virus problems found and cleared. PC returned to a happy customer.
Spyware problem solved
Had a client whose Dell Inspiron laptop was running very slow and the processor was overworking even when machine was idle. The technician ran a number of scans which cleared all the spyware and removed unwanted pop ups. The customer was very happy as all this was done within a day.
Spyware are nasty bits of software that install themselves when you inadvertently click on various web pages. Usually you would see a warning whether to install, but this is not always the case.
There are 2 ways to deal with this type of problem, either install a good spyware prevention software which would need to be purchased or if using free versions make sure you scan regularly.
